Threads is a text-based conversation app by Instagram. It launched on July 5th 2023 as an alternative to Twitter. The app features posting and sharing content in so-called threads. Once you’ve created a thread, other users can like, comment, or reshare it.
New users can sign up using an Instagram account and their username carries over.
“Our vision with Threads is to take what Instagram does best and expand that to text” said owner Mark Zuckerberg. He also mentioned that this launch is the “initial version” of the app, with extra features planned in the near future.
